I'm here to tell you that you are not alone...
However, the impostor syndrome may just be one of the TOP reasons talented coaches and experts HIDE, and don't show up and blow their businesses up the way they desire.
What do I mean by the impostor syndrome?
In case you are new to the term, it sounds a lot like...
I'm not qualified enough to be in this business
I'm not good enough to teach about this because my life is definitely not perfect in this area...
I can't charge that amount, who is going to pay me, people can't afford that much for this...
Or any variation of this....
The thing is, if it goes unchecked, it can seriously RUIN your dream and stop you dead in your tracks...so you have to know how to put a stop to it, or at least send it to the back seat!
They are afraid to charge the premium prices because they feel they aren't good enough, or people won't pay that, or whatever other reason you tell yourself YOU AREN'T GOOD ENOUGH!
This is why they say in ANY business, the bottleneck is ALWAYS the mindset and beliefs of the business owner!
The confidence and success in your business comes from YOU and no one else.
Did you know that there are people out there right now probably not as talented as you, yet they are charging 10x what you charge?
The only reason they are able to do that?
They have a different self belief and self-confidence that you. They have given themselves a level of self-permission you haven't!
The most talented isn't always the most highly paid!
The real questions to ask and evaluate...
Why am I NOT charging more?
Why am I not ALLOWING myself to receive MORE?
Another issue that tends to arise with the impostor syndrome is when you're just starting out and you don't have any clients.
You think that no one is going to pay you because you don't have a lot of social proof/testimonials.
This is the only time it's acceptable to work for cheap or even free...this is NOT permanent!
Offer to help your ideal clients for free or a "launch" rate in exchange for testimonials.
You need testimonials from clients.
Every business needs some social proof.
It's hard to expect people to pay $$$$ when you don't have anything to back you up as an expert.
It will also skyrocket your confidence. Knowing that you've been able to help someone solve a problem and get a breakthrough is powerful. It gives you the confidence that you are qualified and that you can do this. And If you're anything like me, it won't be long until you WANT to charge for getting people life-changing outcomes and results!
Your job is to understand the power of what you're offering.
I love the book Sell or Be Sold by Grant Cardone. One of the most powerful and life changing concepts I learned was this:
The first person you have to sell on your stuff is YOU. You can't sell anything until you sell yourself on your product or offer FIRST.
If you've been struggling, really examine and think about what is holding you back from your potential.
What is your next action step? Is it flipping the script and asking yourself more "why NOT me" questions?
Do you need offer some free sessions in exchange for testimonials?
Or do you need to sell YOU on why your package/expertise will CHANGE LIVES?
